One of the benefits of enrolling in MYOB complete support is access to updated payroll tax tables.
MYOB generally releases 3 tax table updates for each program release. These updates are scheduled to occur at the end of the calendar year in December, the end of January, after many states have submitted late changes and once again at the end of June, as some states change their income tax or unemployment tax rates mid-year.
MYOB uses a tax clearing house to access tax changes from all 50 states. It is the individual state’s responsibility to notify the clearing house in a timely manner of any tax changes. MYOB and other business software developers rely on the clearing house to provide the latest tax information.
MYOB sets a realistic cut off date for each tax update, after which no additional changes will be accepted. This is to allow adequate time to program and test the tax changes. The tax tables for July 2008 were finalized on June 15th 2008, and released on June 27th.
The city of Philadelphia notified the clearing house of a tax reduction on June 30, 2008. Details of this change can be seen here: http://www.phila.gov/Revenue/Wage_Tax.html
Since this date is after the release date of our July Tax table updates, the change was not included in the tax update. It will be included in the next tax table update, which is scheduled to be released with the 2009 upgrade, available in November 2008.
